Cycle clothing & cycle shorts, we have baggy cycle shorts & ladies baggy cycle shorts, all types of cycle shorts & clothing.
The most important thing about cycling apart from choosing the right bike is how you are dressed, you won’t enjoy cycling if you are too cold or too hot or even soaking wet, so this is where we will try to advise you. Obviously manufacturers produce summer and winter wear to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer but it’s not always that simple, for example when you are climbing a hill your body generates more heat so you feel hot but once you crest the hill and start down the other side you feel cold because the sweat that you generated going up is now a cold sweat on your body which can lead to chills and very bad muscle strains.
Manufacturers have developed layering systems with special materials on a base layer to remove moisture from the skin through to the mid layers allowing air to move both ways through to the outer garments that allow moisture to leave the body, but preventing it from re-entering and making you feel cold. These outer layers are windproof, waterproof and lightweight so that when warm they can be removed and put in your pocket, then you can put these back on if the weather turns nasty or when you are going down a hill.
Comfort is very important for long riding on the road and trail. Lycra is still the main material for riding on the road with padded shorts to ease pressure on the saddle. For trail riding, loose tops and baggy shorts, still with padding, are normally worn with plain designs for the tops. Some riders, especially XC racers use lycra shorts that are the same as those worn on the road. However if you are taking part in one of the high profile sports such as BMX, jump or down hill mountain biking then fashion will be as important to you as anything else and normally consists of loose fitting casual tops and long shorts worn with body armour.
Cycle clothing also includes important accessories such as gloves and mitts of all types, specialist shoes, socks and overshoes to keep your feet dry, full rain trousers and capes. There are also specially designed hats that fit under your helmet to keep your head warm and lots of eyewear, either for cycling or as a fashion accessory.
